There are a number of access points along the Clinch that are available to the public. Most of the land abutting the river is private, and state law requires landowner permission before gaining access. The first mile and one half below Norris Dam is TVA land and is available for public access.

TVA has an excellent phone and web page service to inform the public about the release (generation) schedule for the next day. This information is posted every day at 6:00 PM and covers the following day.

| | | | | Drain Down and Travel Times
It takes about five hours for water released at the dam to get to the Highway 61 bridge. When the turbines are turned off, it takes almost twice that long for the water to completely drain down to minimum flow at the bridge. If you are fishing, it is important to know the schedule; and to know approximately what the flows will be at various points along the river.
